The oud player is the humble Palestinian musician Simon Shaheen, born in the village of Tarshiha in Palestine . He has many albums and thousands of soundtracks for international films such as "Sheltering Sky" and "Malcolm X" and a music for many documentaries, Arabic music with jazz, Western classical music and Latin American music. Musician Simon Shaheen, in addition to the oud, is violinists with the same professionalism and beauty. His first artistic appearance was at the age of four. Shaheen was considered as a unique musical school, so it is no surprise that Former US president Bill Clinton honored Simon Shaheen at the White House. i choose this video becasue i was viery intrested in the oud and wanted to know more about it and who was one of the best oud players there was at the time. this is a great example of how you play it and a true expression of Mideastern culture.

I chanced upon this site hoping to learn more about the chinese instruments. Praise to the hammer, the saw (which works both as a musical instrument and as a saw), and to the pneumatic drill with which I've had the honor to perform for several audiences (all at the same time). There is so much more instruments but these are the top instruments china has to offer. the one most used for chinese music would be guzheng said shanghai who is a famous Chinese orchestra. as to my favorite instrument would be the praise to the hammer because i one hit it before when i was in middle school for a school play.

in this video it shows some great examples of instruments they use in the Japanese culture, but one that was not on there that shocked me was the koto, is the most popular traditional Japanese music instrument played by 2.1 percent of female survey participants, followed by the Shamisen with about 0.6 percent among men and women. the koto is very know for its national instrumental use in the Japanese national anthem. besides that these instruments that were talked in this video are very instresting and one that eyed me most was the Nokan which is a bamboo flute (fue) is the only melodic instrument perform in Noh. The melody of this instrument has no specific pitch relationship with the melody of the chanting. very great video is you want to learn about japan instruments.

  1. I loved reading your blog on some different musical instruments in Asia and the middle East. For part of my blog I also wrote about Japanese instruments, so I enjoyed reading your section on that. I also loved getting to hear the Oud player and the different instruments in Chinese music.

  2. It was great to see someone writing about Japanese instruments. The third video you shared was very interesting. My favorite one was the Shamisen. I loved its unique look and the quirky sound it made. Awesome job! :)
